Help!

Okay I have two problems and I would love some input. The first is... Now that I have taken down my holiday stuff. My bare fireplace is really making me crazy! Does anyone have any advise ?I don't even know where to start. Because we are living on the peanuts Chris is making we don't have much of a budget. If we did I would just hire someone who has taste but that is not an option right now. I have thought about maybe a clock or something and I have seen those cute bowls but I don't even know what you are supposed to put in them. That is as far as I have got I'm hopeless. Now on to the second thing.... Chris and I have talked about painting the walls in our front room. I'm not even sure what colors would look good on our walls with how light our fireplace is. So if any of you have an idea I would love the input.

Ok I have no decorating Techniques, but when I try to decorate I googgle until I find a look I like and then copy it. I just pulled up a bunch of fireplaces and lots of them had a big picture just like yours only they set it right on top of the mantel, maybe you could try that, and add something next to it or slightly in front of it (candles, clock etc...) Have fun with it, I can't wait until I have a house to paint and decorate!!!!!!

I am not so good. I still have bare walls at my house. I like the fake flowers or some vases are pretty cool. I like to go to Ikea or Taipan. Too bad we didn't have endless amounts of money to decorate, now that would be fun!!!!

Okay, Corrine, you have unleashed the beast in me. I love decorating. I think first to do is pick a style. Traditional, Country, Modern, ect. Then ask around for local places like TJ Maxx, Ross, you know discount places for your city. My FAVORITE store EVER is Gordman's. If they have them were you are it would be my first stop. Second, color. Try to pull a color from something in the room, ex: couch, pillows, pictures. My favorite color EVER is Sherwin Williams "Blond." I have seen it in quite a few homes and it looks great anywhere! Okay, that it, I promise. Just kidding. You can buy little cans of paint for cheap to try different colors to see what you like before you pain the whole room. Just have fun and if you don't like something don't be afraid to change it. And you don't have to take any of my advice, hee hee. ;)

I am probably alot like you in the fact that I don't know where to start with decorating. I think color does a lot. Start with that and then slowly find things to accent it. Maybe even paint you mantel white instead of the light wood, maybe it would go better with everything!! I hope you figure something out!!

Hi Corine! Guess who? (Aunt Jeri)
I couldn't resist your fireplace problem. I have the same problem. I work at Rod Works, and they have a great website that might help. www.rodworks.com
